DMRC Submits DPR for Kozhikode Monorail

T’Puram: Proposal for the first phase of the Kozhikode monorail project was submitted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) which was given the task by the Kerala Road Fund Board. E. Sreedharan, Principal Adviser, DMRC presented the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Tuesday, in the presence of Ministers Aryadan Mohammed, K.C. Joseph, V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, M.K. Muneer and Manjalamkuzhi Ali.
The first phase of the Kozhikode Monorail project covers a distance of 14.2 kms with 15 stations at an estimated total outlay of Rs.1,991 crore including the tax component. Re-routing near the railway station and the new bus stand has been suggested in the DPR, effecting changes in the earlier plans. Work on the project can be started in September this year and could be completed within 36 months.
